Adam Fisher's half-century was the highlight for the UK Armed Forces men's cricket team as they fell to an eight-wicket defeat against Marylebone Cricket Club.

The RAF man was top scorer for UKAF after smashing in 57 runs from 72 balls before he was bowled by a brilliant delivery from Aron Nijjar.

UKAF set MCC a target of 202 after losing all their wickets, but failed to stop the marauding opener Haris Usman, who hit an unbeaten 106 runs off as many balls to fire MCC to victory.

Fisher is the current UKAF captain and, after winning the toss, he chose to bat first to put pressure on the MCC with a good total.

Their hopes were dashed with a shaky start as the RAF's Tom Shorthouse, who was player of the tournament as the RAF won the T20 Inter Services, was out in just the second ball of the match for one run and the Army's Liam Fletcher had a fruitful but far-too-short haul of 21 runs from 23 balls to leave UKAF at 34-2 from just 8.1 overs.

It was up to Fisher and the Army's Keddy Lesporis to recover the innings, and their partnership, which saw Lesporis fall just seven runs short of his 50, added 99 runs to the score.

However, once Fisher and Lesporis left the crease, it became a revolving door of UKAF batters being dismissed as half of the batting order failed to reach double figures.

Ross Dearden's unbeaten 33 was a solid presence while Harry Hollingsworth came out swinging with 19 runs from 22 balls, but UKAF's 202 total was not the larger score that Fisher and the UKAF coaches had in mind.

It didn't help that Usman opened the batting and looked in inspired form. He reached his half-century within 11 overs with a beautifully timed shot that delivered a boundary.

His partnership with James Grady (71) took the MCC from 8-1 to 197-2 and UKAF's bowling attack struggled to stop the runs from flowing.

Usman's 106* featured 16 boundaries (15 fours and one six) and fittingly his final four was the match-winning runs with 10.5 overs and eight wickets to spare.

On Sunday, UKAF were also in action against Sir Paul Getty's XI at Wormsley Cricket Ground and the match was drawn.
