British Army cyclists enjoy a clean sweep in Inter Services Road Race Championships

The British Army have dominated the Inter Services Road Race Championships taking wins across the board over riders from the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.
Hosted by the Navy on the Brentor Circuit in Dartmoor, the riders took on a circuit which included a four-minute uphill climb in each 5.2-mile-long laps in changeable weather conditions.
The men’s race comprised of a field of 30 riders taking on a 61-mile-long circuit and was won by the Army’s Seb Tyrie, who conserved enough energy throughout the race to edge out Navy cyclist Steve Swindley.
The Army's James Bevan showed the service's depth in road cycling to take third place.
The women's race took place shortly afterwards including 10 Army, 10 RAF and four Navy cyclists to complete the field.
The Army was once again the class of the field with Amy Drysdale taking the women's race win over teammate Laura Furness, with seven Army jerseys making up the top 10.
But it was the Navy's Jessica Morrish who finished in a historic third place, the highest-placed finish from a non-Army cyclist in women's inter services road cycling.
By taking both wins and the highest-ranked cyclist in both the men's and women's fields, the Army took home the overall Inter Services Road Race title.
