Army veteran wins gold at World Cycling Championships

Former Army veteran and para-cyclist Jaco Van Gass has won gold at the World Cycling Championships in a superb Saturday evening session at the Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow.
Van Gass took gold for Great Britain in the Men's MC3 Scratch Race, ahead of teammate and reigning world champion Finlay Graham who took silver for a British double podium.
The double Paralympic gold medalist stormed past the defending champion to take the top spot, whilst Devon Briggs of New Zealand took the bronze.

In the Sunday events, Van Gass faced Graham once again in the men's C3 individual pursuit where the former soldier was unable to beat his teammate this time, settling for the silver medal.
He went on to repeat that success in the men's C3 omnium, winning silver ahead of Graham who took bronze.

The former Invictus Games athlete won two gold medals and a bronze medal at the Tokyo Paralympics where he also broke three world records.
The South African-born former Parachute Regiment soldier was injured while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, losing his left arm at the elbow after he was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.
