RAF on top after riders battle it out at Inter Services Equitation Championships

Watch: RAF on top as riders battle at Inter-Services Eventing competition

The RAF has won the Loriners Inter Services Equitation title, beating tough competition from the Army and the Navy.

They took the team title after a day of dressage and eventing, combining cross country and showjumping at the Defence Animal Training Centre at Melton Mowbray.

The individual champion in this latest round of military riding across the year was the RAF's Warrant Officer Keely Martin on her horse Arabella.

She had only 38.4 penalties over the cross country and show jumps combined and was equal second in the dressage.

This year, up to 150 riders from across the services took part, including Police riders.

Ever wondered why equestrian riders walk the course before a show jumping event?

Army rider Second Lieutenant Brian Leung took BFBS Sport through the course walk at the championships below.
