All-military team to officiate WSL fixture for first time on Remembrance Sunday

Watch: Football referees WO2 Gareth Dunn and Lieutenant Levi Gray speak to BFBS

Four military football officials have been invited to officiate a Women's Super League (WSL) fixture with Everton FC vs Chelsea FC on Remembrance Sunday.

The team includes Royal Air Force referee Corporal Lauren Impey, Army referees WO2 Gareth Dunn and Lieutenant Levi Gray, and Adewunmi Soneye, a former Royal Navy intelligence analyst.

They will be the first all-military team to ever officiate a topflight women's game.

With the team including officials from the Navy, Army and RAF, all three services will be represented at the Remembrance weekend fixture.

This news comes a year after an all-military team officiated a professional English Football League game for the first time.

The military referees officiated a League One fixture between Cambridge United and Bolton Wanderers during Remembrance weekend commemorations.

The team will travel to Walton Hall Park Stadium in Liverpool, the home ground of Everton women, where the game will kick off at 13:00 GMT on Remembrance Sunday.
