All-military team to officiate EFL fixture for first time

For the first time, a modern professional English Football League game will be refereed by an all-military team.

As part of Remembrance weekend commemorations, all four match officials for Saturday's League One fixture between Cambridge United and Bolton Wanderers will come from the forces.

The RAF's Sergeant Darren Drysdale will be the referee, and he will be joined by his two assistant referees, the Army's Corporal Declan O'Shea and Captain Steve Finch.

The Royal Navy's Chief Petty Officer Scott Jackson will be the fourth official to round up the all-military team.

The Remembrance fixture at Cambridge's Abbey Stadium will honour the sacrifices made by servicemen and women with a pre-match tribute ahead of kick-off.

Representatives from both clubs will lay a poppy wreath on the edge of the centre circle where supporters are then invited to join for a minute's silence, followed by the playing of the Last Post by a local Bugler.
