Navy gears up for first Inter Services crunch fixture under new head coach

Watch: The Royal Navy senior men's team train in Portsmouth ahead of their clash against the Army

The Royal Navy men last won the Inter Services title back in 2016, so could they finally end their eight-year title drought in 2024?

They're under the leadership of new head coach Lieutenant Commander Chris James, who stepped up to the role last year after a successful run coaching the Navy under 23s.

Their first test will be against the British Army at Fratton Park in Portsmouth where last year the Navy suffered a bruising 0-3 loss.

This year, the Navy will hope they have what it takes to put right the wrongs of that game and head into their fixture against the Royal Air Force next week with the Inter Services trophy within their grasp.

At their training base at HMS Temeraire in Portsmouth, Lt Cdr James and team captain and Chief Petty Officer Physical Trainer Danny Kerr spoke to BFBS Sport ahead of their opening game on Wednesday in the featured video above.
