Royal Air Force come back to defeat the Army in Inter Services opener

Watch: The Army and the RAF go head-to-head in their Inter Services opener in Aldershot Town FC.

The Royal Air Force senior men's team pulled off a stunning comeback to beat the British Army in their Inter Services opener in Aldershot Town FC.

The reigning Inter Services champions found themselves on the back foot after conceding two goals to the Army in the first half.

A strike by the Royal Signals' Corporal Jamie Turner, which was soon followed up by the Infantry's Private Lewis Simmons gave the Army an early 2-0 lead over the Air Force.

With many chances missed and the clock ticking down to half time, a goal by RAF team captain Sergeant Michael Campbell gave the light blues a dose of hope that they could salvage their game.

It didn't take long for the RAF to build upon that first goal by Sgt Campbell however, as minutes later, RAF Akrotiri based Air Specialist Class 1 Jack Debnam leveled the scoreboard at 2-2 just seconds before half time, and then the fight was well and truly on.

A level scoreboard in the second half provided a level playing field, but it wasn't long before Sgt Campbell scored his second goal of the game to give the RAF the lead for the first time in the game.

The Army fought back to respond, and a number of chances for the reds kept the RAF on their toes.

But come the full time whistle, the RAF walk away victorious with a 2-3 win against the Army and are one step closer to retaining their Inter Services title.

The Army will need to win big against the Royal Navy at Fratton Park in Portsmouth next week for a chance to put themselves back into contention for the overall title.
