Royal Navy women primed for Inter Services title decider with win over British Army

Watch: The Royal Navy women and the British Army women clash at the Inter Services in Havant.

The Royal Navy women’s team are in the Inter Services title race after a 1-0 win against the British Army in Havant.

A second half goal by the Navy’s Jade Berrow was the difference between two very strong sides in what proved to be a scrappy and toughly fought match.

The first half saw opportunities slip away from both the Navy and the Army as both sides grappled hard to maintain possession of the ball.

The consequence of a tightly fought first half was a goalless scoresheet at half time, with both the Navy and the Army level at 0-0.

The second half looked as if the deadlock would carry over from the first half, with both the Navy and the Army not making the most of the chances that were there for the taking.

But that would change at the seventy first minute of the game, as the Navy’s hat trick scorer against the Army last year Jade Berrow broke through the Army defence to slot in for the Navy to give them a 1-0 lead.

At the final whistle the Navy women win 1-0 over the Army, setting themselves up for an exciting title deciding match against the RAF in Shrewsbury Town FC on 20 March.

The Army, having also lost their opening game against the RAF last week, cannot win the Inter Services title.

Goal scorer Jade Berrow was named Player of the Match.
