Getting To Grips With Taekwondo
If you're a member of the Armed Forces and know what a 'hook kick', 'rising block' and 'eagle strike' are, there's every chance you were at the Inter-Services Martial Arts Championships.
More than 200 servicemen and women competed in this year’s competition at RAF Cranwell, which saw Brazilian jiu-jitsu added to the list of events.
Already on the list of events was Karate and Taekwondo, the latter of which has a small but loyal following in the forces.
Developed in the 1940s and 1950s, it's a Korean, kick-based martial art.
And the British Army team is keen to recruit fresh talent, as Julian Evans found out (see above).
