Could the prospect of an Inter Services darts championship become a reality in the near future?

Darts has been officially recognised as a Forces sport by all three services' sports boards.

The three services have given the sport an official acknowledgment with it becoming a Category 3 sport in the British Army and RAF and a Category 4 sport in the Royal Navy.

It means that inter-unit, ship and station tournaments can be arranged as well as other official sporting fixtures with the support of the service sports boards.

This is after a momentous 2024 for the military darts community, which saw numbers grow and a special charity event, that included professional players called Operation Bullseye, held in Blackpool.

Over ÂŁ13,500 was raised in an event that saw military players team with professional PDC players in a one-night tournament.

Organisers are now planning their next steps for progression with the long-term aim to hold an Inter Services championship.
