Military's best swimmers and divers shine at Inter Services Aquatics Championships
The 2025 Inter Services Aquatics Championships have been held in Portsmouth, the first championships since the Covid-19 pandemic that saw full male and female participation across the services competing in all events.
In the swimming events, 27 titles were up for grabs, including individual and relay events.
In the overall team events, the British Army were the best of the services with a combined total of 201 points, with the Royal Navy settling for second with 183 points and the RAF in third on 173 points.
The British Army also took the women's team title, but it was the Royal Navy who denied them a clean sweep by taking the men's team title.
In the diving events, the British Army's Lance Corporal Jamie McConnell was the class of the field across the board in the men's competition.
LCpl McConnell saw off competition from the Royal Navy's Harry Mason and Royal Marine Korben O'Driscoll to win the springboard event with a combined score of 330.30 as well as the platform event with a score of 256.70.
In the women's competition, RAF diver Corporal Charlotte Goodman proved why she's the best female diver across the services after winning the springboard and platform titles for the third year running.
Cpl Goodman took the springboard competition with a combined score of 246.65, more than 100 points from second place.
She also won the platform event with a combined score of 210.65.
The Royal Air Force are due to host the Inter Services Championships in 2026, where they will be celebrating 100 years since the founding of the RAF Swimming Association.
