'Absolutely incredible': Army bobsleigh star reflects on her record result for Jamaica at Olympics
Army reservist and Jamaican bobsleigh star Private Mica Moore says she's "really proud of her performance" after she placed 14th in the women's monobob event at the Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games.
Pte Moore's result in the women's monobob equals the highest-ever placement for a Jamaican bobsleigh athlete – matching the result of Jamaica's 1994 four-man bobsleigh team at the Games in Lillehammer.
It's also the highest-ever placement for a female Jamaican bobsleigh athlete in an Olympic Winter Games.
Speaking to BFBS Sport from the sliding centre in Cortina, where the sliding events are taking place, she said: "It's been absolutely incredible!
"Obviously the standout thing was the support that we've received from everyone – not just the Jamaican community, but everybody.
"There wasn't one person that walked past me in the [Olympic] village and say 'Jamaican bobsleigh!' – it's been incredible, and I've never experienced anything like it.
"And then, the result was just the cherry on top of the cake."
Pte Moore joined the Army reserves in 2025 not long after she switched her nationality to Jamaica in December 2024 – after years of competing in bobsleigh for Team GB, including at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang.
She qualified for the 2026 Games after competing in the IBSF Cups in North America and Europe, and had never ran down the newly built Bobsleigh track in Cortina d'Ampezzo before the Games.
She added: "I came here with no runs down this track, pretty much everyone else in the field had about 40 runs on top of me, so it was a real steep learning curve.
"But going into the competition, I still hadn't mastered some of the corners.
"And on the first run of the first day, I managed to just find some feeling down this track, and once I did that, I knew that I could progress with this now.
"So each run of the competition got faster and quicker, and I am just really proud of my performance."
