Best Lawson Cup final ever: RLC's golden try beats Infantry in an Army rugby league classic
The Royal Logistic Corps have won the 2026 Lawson Cup after two thrilling comebacks against the Infantry in Aldershot.
In one of the best Army rugby league and Lawson Cup matches ever, the momentum switched from one side to the other until the RLC confirmed their 30-26 win with a golden point try in extra time.
A superb first half saw the Infantry dominate into a 20-4 lead, but the RLC's team-talk at the break inspired a comeback.

Four tries and one successful conversion later, the RLC led for the first time in the game at 22-20.
However, the drama had only just started. Iliaseri Qoro, the Infantry captain, ran from the half-way line to score a breakaway try and the team in red believed the game was won.
That belief was shattered moments later when Aborosia Sovatabua dived down for his hat-trick try and took us into an extra time with the golden point rule at 26-26.
The momentum was with the RLC now and it was Uraia Vakatuturagana who grabbed the winning moment with a jink of his shoulders and a swan dive to fittingly end the drama.
