The British Army women's 7s team have won the Women's Open Plate in the National Pub 7s of the LIT Super Sevens tournament at Harpenden Rugby Club.
The Army women began their day in group B of the pool stages with a dominant 40-0 win over Bishop's Stortford Women before they suffered a string of losses against Oxfam Lightning and the Wild Dogs, which saw them finish third in the pool with three points.
In the knockout phase, the Army's semi-final match wasn't played after the team received a bye through to the final game against Harpenden Hurricanes.
An impressive display saw the Army win by 5-28 over Harpenden Hurricanes with an impressive final try by Elychia Watson to win the Women's Open Plate.
In the Men's Elite Cup, the Army men came in riding the highs of their impressive round two performance in Shelford.
The Army men began their pool stages strongly with a 19-12 victory over Kaiviti Rugby Academy UK and a 29-5 victory over BOOM Beavers.
But they suffered an agonising 20-19 loss to Apache, which saw them finish second in the standings as they advanced to the quarterfinals.
But the quarterfinals was where the Army's day came to an end after they went down 24-19 to the Wild Dogs Alpha Pack.
