RAF stars set up England and Scotland for winner-takes-all finales in WXV

Royal Air Force rugby players Flight Lieutenant Amy Cokayne and Flight Lieutenant Sarah Bonar have been in action for their respective nations in the women's WXV tournament.
Flt Lt Cokayne has been playing in the WXV 1 pool in Canada where she helped England to a 49-31 win against reigning world champions New Zealand, which followed their dominant 61-21 win over the United States earlier in the tournament.
She played an hour at hooker for the Red Roses at the Langley Event Centre with their win setting up a winner-takes-all finale against Canada on 13 October where they will attempt to retain their title.
Elsewhere, Flt Lt Bonar is playing in the WXV 2 pool for Scotland in South Africa, where the RAF player also helped her team to double victories over Italy and Japan.
Flt Lt Bonar and her Scottish teammates will take on Australia in another winner-takes-all title decider at the Athlone Sports Stadium in Cape Town on 12 October.
WXV, launched in 2023 by World Rugby, aims to transform the international rugby landscape and provides a pathway for all unions with a competitive qualification route towards an expanded 16-team Rugby World Cup in 2025.
