Royal Marine Commando Taylor Lawrence has won bronze in the four-man bobsleigh event at the IBSF World Cup in St Moritz, Switzerland.

Lawrence, who is the brakeman in Great Britain's GBR1 four-man bobsleigh team led by Brad Hall, helped the team to a third-place finish with a combined time of 2:09.43.

They were beaten only by two German teams, with current world champion Francesco Friedrich taking the gold ahead of Johannes Lochner who had to settle for silver.

Team Hall's bronze medal comes a week after their historic win in the four-man bobsleigh at the IBSF World Cup in Winterberg, Germany.

Great Britain's GBR2 four-man bobsleigh team, which included Royal Marine Adam Baird and the Royal Air Force's Alex Cartagena, finished down in 18th.

History was also made at St. Moritz as Royal Navy athlete Shakeel John, who is coached by former Royal Marine Lee Johnston, was part of Trinidad and Tobago’s first-ever 4-man bobsleigh team to race at an IBSF World Cup.

Elsewhere, para bobsleigh athlete and former soldier Corie Mapp won back-to-back medals at the Para Bobsleigh World Cup in Lillehammer, Norway.

Mapp, who lost both of his legs while serving in Afghanistan in 2009, took gold in the first event with a combined time of 1:51.42.

He backed that up with a silver medal the next day, finishing with a combined time of 1:52.03, behind Italy's Flavio Merardi who took the gold medal.
