Exercise Spring Sabre: Showcasing the future of autonomous warfare systems

The exercise in Plymouth has been showcasing the use of autonomous systems

As the Royal Navy continues its transformation under the Atlantic Bastion programme, the use of uncrewed and autonomous systems is playing a vital role in reshaping how maritime operations are carried out.

Taking place at Stonehouse Barracks in Plymouth, Exercise Spring Sabre is a first-of-its-kind exercise focused on taking personnel out of harm's way.

For the Royal Marines, the UK's elite amphibious fighting force, the autonomous systems offer commanders better reconnaissance capabilities, allowing them to size up enemy defences and relay that information back to the main force ahead of time.

In our video above, BFBS Forces News takes a deeper look into the exercise and how it is playing an integral part in the new Hybrid Navy.
