Stealth jets revealed and soldiers seen round corners: Welcome to quantum science
A so-called quantum arms race is underway – led by China, the US and the UK – and it's about to transform the battlespace all around us.
One military application is quantum radar. Put simply, it's all about creating sensing technology that either augments or outperforms traditional radar.
Instead of bouncing microwaves or radio waves off an object and listening for its reflection, or echo, quantum science opens up the possibility of doing something that can sense and see where radar would struggle.
