Corrie McKeague: Memorial service planned at RAF Honington

The Royal Air Force is planning a memorial service for Corrie McKeague, who disappeared in September 2016.

The 23-year-old airman went missing on a night out in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and his body was never found.

In March, an inquest concluded he died after getting into a bin which was then tipped into a waste lorry.

In their conclusion, jurors said Mr McKeague's "death was contributed to by impaired judgment due to alcohol consumption".

Mr McKeague's mother, Nicola Urquhart, says she wishes for the service to be held at RAF Honington, where the gunner worked, and is co-ordinating plans with the Royal Air Force.

An RAF Honington spokesman said: "The thoughts of all of us at RAF Honington remain with Corrie's family, friends and colleagues.

"We are working closely with Mrs Urquhart and the details of a memorial for Corrie will be confirmed in due course."
