Truss' defence spending pledge good news for 'overstretched' military, Ellwood says
The Chair of the Defence Select Committee has said the new Prime Minister Liz Truss' defence spending commitment is "great to hear", but hopes it will reverse some of the cuts outlined in the Integrated Review.
"She's made a commitment for a 3% GDP increase, great to hear that, I've been calling for that for some time," Tobias Ellwood said.
"Our Armed Forces are absolutely overstretched at the moment."

Mr Ellwood also said the UK needs "to double the size of the Navy", build a "greater force presence" in the British Army and reverse the "cuts in manpower", as well as reverse the reduction in numbers of F-35s for the Royal Air Force.
