US crew go Ga Ga thanks to Freddie Mercury-themed concert on board huge hovercraft
The under-pressure crew of a US vessel have been rewarded for "steaming hard day after day" with a Freddie Mercury-themed concert – on board their massive hovercraft.
Making the crew go Ga Ga was a Freddie Mercury impersonator who took centre stage and made a big noise all over the place singing We Will Rock You.
The atmosphere on board was a Kind of Magic as the Queen frontman's tunes were belted out on board the Landing Craft, Air Cushion.
"The crew needs moments like this to unwind and recharge! It's all about the sea story!" a post on US Navy Captain Gervy Alota's Instagram said.
And the crew did not look like they wanted to Break Free at any point – enjoying every bit of the flamboyant performance.
The Landing Craft, Air Cushion is a high-speed, over-the-beach, fully amphibious landing craft capable of carrying a payload up to 68 tonnes.
LCACs are used to transport the weapons systems, equipment, cargo and personnel of the assault elements of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force from ship to shore and across the beach.
The LCAC is also capable of carrying an M1 Abrams, although the US Marine Corps no longer operates the main battle tank.
