Wounded hero Royal Marine Mark Ormrod backs launch of Forces TV on Freeview
A hero Royal Marine who lost three limbs in a bomb blast in Afghanistan has told why he thinks Forces TV matters to the armed forces as the service launches for the first time on Freeview.
Mark, who has just returned from the Invictus Games in Toronto where he claimed a silver medal in indoor rowing, gave his backing to Forces TV as it launches on Freeview, saying that the service told the stories of some “incredible people” including those who helped save his life.
The triple amputee and father-of-three, who survived an IED blast and who was last week praised by Prince Harry for his performance at Invictus, is filmed in a short video giving his support for Forces TV.

He said: “I’m Mark Ormrod, a former Royal Marines Commando, who was injured serving out in Afghanistan back on Christmas Eve 2007.
“As a result of my injuries, I became the UK’s first triple amputee from the conflict and had to adjust to a new and very different life.
“But I was lucky because I survived.
“During my recovery, I had the opportunity to work with some incredible people, some of whom helped save my life.
“Forces TV tells the stories of these incredible people.
“If you’d like to know more about life in the military, check out Forces TV, available now on Freeview, Freesat, Virgin and Sky.”

Forces TV has launched on Freeview channel 96, and is available to 76% of the UK population in most major cities and towns.
To receive Forces TV you will need to be within coverage and be watching on a Freeview HD television or Freeview HD recorder.
Most new TVs come with Freeview HD built-in, or you can simply plug a Freeview HD recorder into an existing HDTV and retune your box or TV.
