#IRemember: The Sinking Of HMS Sheffield
Serving and retired officers have joined our #IRemember campaign, paying their tributes to those who lost their lives in the service of our country.
Commodore Richard Lord RN (Rtd) recorded a message in memory of those lost as a result of the Argentine attack on HMS Sheffield during the Falklands War.
The Type 42 destroyer was hit by an Exocet missile, leading to the loss of 20 lives, with 24 more seriously injured.
Commodore Lord had served on the ship before the task force sailed south.
Major Ant Sharman of the Royal Wessex Yeomanry recorded a message in memory of Lance Corporal Alan Brackenbury, of The King's Royal Hussars, who was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq in 2005.
If you'd like to join our #IRemember campaign in the run-up to Armistice Day, you can post brief tributes to relatives or loved ones who served our country using the #IRemember hashtag on social media.
They might have seen action in either World War, they might have served in peacetime, they might have been killed in action or lived a long and happy life after leaving the forces.
They might not have served in uniform but supported the war effort in another way. It's up to you to remember whoever you choose.
