Remembrance Rumble: Big Phil Campion Dares To Return After Last Year's Bust-Up

Special Air Service veteran turned writer Phil Campion has organised another big charity boxing night in London between former SAS soldiers and US Special Forces, almost a year after a punch-up live on air with Forces Radio BFBS' Richard Hatch.
Big Phil dared to return to Forces Radio BFBS after last year's controversial radio interview, which you can watch in the second video below in all its awkward glory, to chat about this year's Remembrance Rumble and how strongly he feels about raising money and awareness for mental health.
The 'Remembrance Rumble' took place last November and raised £60,000 for military charities. This year the Rumble is hoping to raise money for Pilgrim Bandits, Talking2Minds and Save Our Soldiers. It's not just a punch-up for fun.
Verity asked Phil how in shape he needs to get before taking part in a big boxing fundraising event like this.
"I underestimated it to begin with because I’m weighing in at about 21 stone and it's not all muscle anymore… as you alluded to last time."
In the run-up to the last Remembrance Rumble, Richard Hatch mighthave mentioned something about Phil’s weight which as you can see in the video below, didn't go down very well.
Well, that escalated quickly…
Verity wanted to know how much of boxing is sport and how much is violence. Phil's response is classic military banter.
"I'm 90% violence and 10% sport I'm afraid"
In the run-up to last year’s Remembrance Rumble Richard took Big Phil Campion on in the ring to promote the charity event. Shirts came off, earrings were taken out and the pillows, well they were just for show, kind of.
The crowd went wild for the ducking and diving, visible exhaustion & the controversial controversy. The investigation into #PillowGate continues to this day.
Some viewers may find these scenes distressing, especially if you really, really like pillows...
Richard Hatch took his preparation for the fight at the famous Peacock Gym in London very seriously. Even going so far as channelling Robert "Rocky" Balboa himself. Here's some outstanding training footage of the man himself. Prepare to be inspired…
The Remembrance Rumble takes place on 11th November at the iconic York Hall in London. Get your tickets here.
