Former Special Boat Service operatives have summited Ama Dablam – a 6,800m peak in the Himalayas – to raise money for the Royal British Legion (RBL).

The Special Forces celebrity duo of SAS: Who Dares Wins' Ollie Ollerton and Nirmal 'Nims' Purja, star of Netflix's 14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible, summitted Ama Dablam to mark Armistice Day.

They led an expedition up the 6,812m-high (22,349ft) Nepalese mountain, accompanied by other former Special Forces soldiers and Royal Marines commandos.

Ollie Ollerton was one of the founding Directing Staff on Channel 4's hit show SAS: Who Dares Wins, and his military career saw him complete SAS selection before joining the Special Boat Service while Nirmal Purja, known as Nims or Nimsdai, served in the British Army with the Brigade of Gurkhas before joining the Special Boat Service.

Ollie Ollerton said: "It was one of my life's greatest privileges to be part of this expedition, accompanying a group of some of the bravest souls, that I have been proud to call my military brothers, up the steep faces of one of Nepal's most celebrated peaks.

"The last three weeks have allowed us to reflect on our shared experiences and remember those we have lost along the way, and the moment we hit the summit was emotionally charged, to say the least."

"I knew I would come down the mountain a different person and this was so, so true," Ollie added.
