King Charles appointed Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Welsh Regiment on St David's Day

King Charles has become the Colonel-in-Chief of The Royal Welsh Regiment, with the announcement made on St David’s Day.
He succeeds the late Queen, who held the role for 16 years.
The new role is of special significance to the King, whose first military appointment as the Prince of Wales, aged 20, was as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Regiment of Wales.
He held that position for 37 years before the regiment's amalgamation in 2006.
Posting on X, The Royal Welsh said it was "thrilled to announce that His Majesty The King has agreed to assume the position of Colonel-in-Chief".
It added: "The entire regimental family extends its heartfelt congratulations to His Majesty on this auspicious occasion."
