Cash on drones or fixing military homes? Here's where you said the money should be spent

The government's Defence Investment Plan has revealed that refurbishment work on 14,000 military homes is being delayed, with funding instead diverted to new technologies.
The announcement has reignited debate over how defence funding should be allocated, particularly when it comes to balancing investment in kit versus the welfare of service personnel.
To gauge public opinion, BFBS Forces News asked its YouTube audience: Should military housing budgets be redirected to fund capabilities such as drones?
More than 2,000 people responded to the poll, with 80% voting no, while 11% said yes and 9% were unsure.
Many respondents commented that the choice should not be an either-or decision, with one person saying, "it should be properly funded so both are possible".
Others stressed the importance of investing in the people who serve. One respondent wrote: "People are the most valuable resource. Recruiting is always a challenge."
Another added that "the housing needs of our military men and women should be priority number one", reflecting a widely shared view that maintaining suitable accommodation is essential for retention and recruitment.
Antony Cotton, a prominent Armed Forces campaigner, branded the delay to refurbishment works on 14,000 substandard military homes under the Defence Investment Plan funding as "very disappointing".
