Marine close to finishing incredible 500-mile run and National Three Peaks for charity

Super-fit Royal Marines physical training instructor Ben Clough is completing the National Three Peaks challenge with a 'twist' for charity – he is running between each of the peaks.
Over 10 days he will complete approximately 18 marathons, running between 50 to 55 miles a day.
Originally from Lancashire, the instructor from Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM) at Lympstone in Devon, is well on track to completing his gruelling 'Summit Attack' challenge, having already summited Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike, and is now running on to Wales via Garstang, Frodsham and Ruthin Park.
By conquering the entire route between Scotland and Wales, as well as the peaks, Ben will cover a total of 482 miles.
He hopes to raise £48,200 (£100 per mile of his route) for two charities close to his heart, Mind and RMA – The Royal Marines Charity.

Having pushed himself to the limit, Ben said: "More days of battling the demons, but I am here still fit to fight!"
The 'Summit Attack' involves a total elevation gain of 14,500 metres, which is equivalent to more than one-and-a-half times the height of Mount Everest.
If all goes according to plan, he will arrive to summit the third and last mountain, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), on Monday 21 August, before ending his journey at Llanberis Railway Station.
Donations can be made to his fundraising page here.
