Royal Lancers put their firepower to the test on multinational Nato live-fire exercise

Watch: Nato's heavy armour put to the test in Poland.

Troops from the British Army's Royal Lancers have been testing their firepower with Nato's enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) Battle Group Poland.

They conducted a combined arms live-fire exercise at Bemowo Piskie Training Area with soldiers from the US, Croatia, Romania and Poland.

The purpose of the three-day exercise was to put to the test the interoperability of each nation through a series of live-fire operations.

In October, The Royal Lancers, D Squadron took over from the Royal Dragoon Guards, Black Dragoon Squadron as part of the British commitment to Nato in the eFP US-led Battlegroup Poland.

The British Army has had a squadron-sized unit in regular rotation within the American-led Battlegroup since the eFP battlegroups were initiated.

Nato enhanced its presence in the eastern part of the alliance in 2017, by establishing four multinational battlegroups in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

The Army said after the announcement of the troops' rotation: "Their presence makes clear that an attack on one ally will be considered an attack on the whole alliance; they form part of the biggest reinforcement of Nato's collective defence in a generation."
