Beer Crisis In Iceland During US Troops' Visit

The visit of over 6,000 US troops caused a severe shortage of beer in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík, a local news site has reported.
According to 'Visir', local pubs ran out of beers and had to request emergency supplies.
They first tried borrowing from other nearby businesses, but the Americans were too many.
A local blogger, Eiríkur Jónsson, said pub owners have never experienced a situation similar to this before and that “they were fighting an overwhelming force”.
Eventually one of Iceland’s local breweries, Ölgerð Egils Skallagrímssonar, worked overtime to distribute emergency supplies to the bars.
US troops were reportedly “very willing to sample different microbrews as well as the more popular standard lagers”.
They arrived in Iceland on Wednesday 24 October and departed on Sunday for NATO’s Exercise Trident Juncture in Norway.
