British Soldier Found Guilty Of London Robberies

A soldier has been found guilty of carrying out a string of armed robberies in south London.
Grenadier Guardsman Kristopher James-Merril was found guilty of three charges of robbery and four attempted robberies.
James-Merril denied helping fellow Guardsman Dillon Sharpe and another man carry out a string of robberies.
Jurors heard how the trio were cruising around south London in James-Merrill's Mercedes and stopped off at different shops before Sharpe, disguised in black clothing, a hood and a mask, threatened shopkeepers with an imitation handgun demanding cash.
Sharpe has admitted the charges against him.
The jury did not believe James-Merril's claim that he thought Sharpe was running errands and collecting money from friends.
The judge said a custodial sentence was inevitable for all involved.
A date for sentencing has yet to be set.
Kristopher James-Merril is likely to be dismissed from the military.
