British Soldier In Intensive Care After Falling Ill On Kenya Deployment

A British soldier is seriously ill in hospital after falling ill while deployed to Kenya.

Private Nathan Scott, 18, was airlifted to hospital in the capital city of Nairobi after becoming sick when he returned to Nanyuki training base earlier this week.

He is now in intensive care.

Pte Scott's family has flown to Kenya to be by his bedside.

An Army spokesperson told Forces News: "We are aware of an incident involving soldiers from the British Army Training Unit Kenya.

"This is currently being investigated and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."

Pte Scott arrived in Kenya at the weekend as part of a deployment to British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) in Nanyuki.

BATUK is a unit which deals with training support, consisting of around 100 permanent personnel and 280 'short tour' soldiers.

It is primarily based in Nanyuki, but a small part is stationed 200 kilometres away in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
