Cheers Chinook: Whaley Bridge Pub Unveils New Ale In Tribute To RAF Relief Effort

A pub in Whaley Bridge has brought out a new golden ale called Chinook, as a homage to the RAF helicopter which helped secure the damaged dam.
The RAF was called in to drop hundreds of tonnes of aggregate on to the damaged part of the dam after flooding caused a hole in the dams' wall.
More than 1,500 people were evacuated from the town, while Chinooks continued to secure the dam.
But the Goyt Inn, situated in the middle of the town, has decided to try and keep the memory of the evacuation alive.
The pub has said all proceeds from the ale will go to Buxton Mountain Rescue, for the part they played in the operation.

Addressing the reasons behind the new ale, the landlord of the Goyt Inn, Tony Gunner said: "We had this Chinook chopping across us all day every day and it was a really reassuring sound.
"The RAF were absolutely fantastic - as was everybody who helped save the dam," Mr Gunner added.
In a tweet, Mountain Rescue responded to the pub's gesture and thanked them for their support.
