A fundraising challenge inspired by Royal Marines veteran Tim Crossin has more than doubled its target, raising an incredible £21,861 – far surpassing the original £10,000 goal.

The challenge, named the Timspiration Tour, saw participants take on 31 cold-water dips in 31 locations across the UK in 31 days to honour Tim's memory and raise funds for RMA – The Royal Marines Charity, Lymphoma Action, Rock 2 Recovery, and the Bowra Foundation.

Tim, known as the Cold Dip Commando, had spent 19 years in the Royal Marines before later turning to cold-water therapy during his battle with cancer.

"He had a passion for cold water therapy and during his diagnosis of cancer he spent most days in the water doing dips," Tims's daughter Kelly said.

Tim, who served for 19 years in the Royal Marines, was diagnosed with cancer four times and lived with the disease from 2016.

He died on 3 December 2024 but, determined to carry out his mission, his friends, family, and supporters from across the country took up the challenge in his name.

Tim shared his motivation for the challenge on the fundraising page that he started.

"In my life, I have faced many challenges both mental and physical," he said. "Being diagnosed with cancer four times, undergoing chemotherapy, and living with cancer since 2016 is probably one of the hardest, after having to tell my children.

"Cancer and the chemotherapy have tested me emotionally and pushed me to my mental and physical limit."

The challenge drew a mix of Royal Marine veterans, serving personnel, reservists, and local cold-dip groups, with even a few four-legged swimmers joining in.

With 884 supporters donating, the challenge has been a huge success, ensuring that Tim's mission continues to make a difference.

Even though the final dip has already taken place, organisers are encouraging more people to donate to keep Tim's legacy alive.
