CSG21: Frigate HMS Richmond makes 'busy' visit to Pakistan

The Carrier Strike Group (CSG21) deployment has seen the UK's Type 23 HMS Richmond stop off in Pakistan "for a busy programme of defence engagement."

Along with HMS Kent, the submarine-hunter was sent on the 28-week mission as part of the entourage for HMS Queen Elizabeth and the UK's tilt toward the Indo-Pacific region.

Now past the halfway stage of their journey, HMS Richmond has paid a visit to Karachi.

Personnel formed a guard of honour and paid their respects at the Commonwealth War memorial in Pakistan's largest city.

The vessel also welcomed on board the winners of an academic competition â€“ 800 entries were received by the British Council Pakistan.

A friendly football match between British and Pakistani navies ended in a "diplomatic" score of 1-1, according to the British High Commission in the country.

Meanwhile, flagship HMS Queen Elizabeth has been engaging with the Omani military to the West.
