Defence Secretary Dismisses Reports Of Male Army Make-Up Review

Ben Wallace on male personnel wearing make-up on duty.

The Defence Secretary has dismissed suggestions that male soldiers will be allowed to wear make-up while on duty.

Ben Wallace was speaking in reference to reports the matter was being considered by the Army.

Speaking at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester on Sunday, Mr Wallace said male soldiers "will be allowed to wear make-up in the Army as long as it's camouflage colour".

Ben Wallace added this would be "as far as they're allowed" as he referred to the reports about the matter being considered.

Responding to the reports, an Army spokesperson said: "The Army is a modern and inclusive employer that recognises the diversity of our soldiers.

"Queen’s Regulations currently state that while on duty, male soldiers may not wear make-up".
