Forces' Youngsters In Cyprus Awarded For Bravery And Community Spirit
Dozens of young people from across British Forces Cyprus have been recognised at this year’s SSAFA Young Achiever Awards.
More than 23 youngsters aged from five to 18 were nominated for their fortitude, kindness or community spirit.
It was set up to recognise and award the efforts of some exceptional young people.

Mr Dawson, whose son battled meningitis, said the event was inspiring:
"The beauty of the Young Achiever Awards is that there are lots of highs and lows. There are children who've been through terrible circumstances and have shown incredible strength.
"I've had the same experience with my young lad who had meningitis - you see them battle back and battle through it.
"They show us how to get through it."
The awards focused on those who had overcome an injury or illness, shown bravery and personal courage or had contributed to their community or school.

But despite her diagnosis last year, she continued to pursue her passion for horse riding, as well as raising hundreds of euros for charity.
She said: "I wasn't allowed to jump or canter when riding, I had to just walk and trot - it upset me because my favourite thing to do is canter."
The awards are run by the charity SSAFA, who provide lifelong support to serving men, women and veterans.
Winners between the ages of six to 18 arrived from across the Cyprus for the event.
Other winners were children who were carers, helped at youth centres on the British bases or organised school events to highlight medical conditions such as Dyspraxia.
There were also several children that were recognised for their sailing achievements.

Hannah hoped that her voluntary work would help make the community a better and safer place to live in.
"I've benefited a lot from other people volunteering and I feel if everybody did their bit within the community then it would be a really good place - especially with helping the younger children who might struggle with the transient side of the community."
The awards gave the military community in Cyprus a chance to show appreciation to its youngest members.
