Tributes have been paid to former soldier and promising para snowboarder Scott McNeice, who has died.

McNeice joined the British Army in 2003 and served as a health care assistant in the Army Nursing Corps, where he completed operational tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2017, he sustained a service-related knee injury, which led to him opting for an elective amputation and being medically discharged from the Army.

He went on to represent Team UK in six sports at the Sydney Invictus Games in 2018, where he medalled in archery, volleyball and wheelchair rugby.

Later that year, he was introduced to snowboarding by the Armed Forces Para Snowsports Team (AFPST) and aspired to compete for Great Britain at the 2026 Winter Paralympics.

The AFPST led tributes in a post on social media, which said: "Scott McNeice, a cherished member of our snowboard family, has tragically passed away. It is with heavy heart that we bear this news.

"During this time of grief, please lean on our snow family for support as we navigate this difficult time together.

"Let us come together to honour Scott's memory by reminiscing about the joy and love he brought into many of our lives."

GB Snowboarding has also paid tribute to Scott McNeice in a post on social media.

They said: "We are heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Scott McNeice, a cherished member of our Para Snowboard Development Team. "Scott's passion, dedication, and warmth left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. "Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the Para Snowboard community."
