MOD report shows increase in military police sexual offence investigations in 2025

Latest figures show an increase in military police investigations into sexual offences during 2025, compared to the previous year.
Service police looked into 406 cases altogether – an increase of 58 on 2024 – with 133 of the concluded investigations referred to the Director of Service Prosecutions.
The report by the Ministry of Defence shows that 107 defendants appeared before a court martial for sexual offences, indecent images of children or domestic abuse, and 60 of them were convicted.
These included former Warrant Officer Class 1 Michael Webber, who was convicted of sexually assaulting Royal Artillery Gunner Jaysley Beck in 2021.
Gnr Beck took her own life after this and other incidents, and Webber was sentenced to six months in a civilian prison in October following a court martial.

The figures also showed 101 defendants were court martialled for offences involving children.
Just over 60% of the 189 charges brought against them resulted in a guilty verdict.
The figures also show that fewer than half of the domestic abuse investigations launched were referred to the Service Prosecuting Authority (SPA).

Officers looked into 156 cases, which included suspected violent offending, sexual offences and controlling and coercive behaviour.
Forty of them were referred to the SPA, while 49 weren't, and 67 are still under investigation.
Only one murder investigation was launched by service police in 2025, and one manslaughter case was referred to the Service Prosecuting Authority.
No murder or manslaughter cases were brought before a court martial during the year.
