National Memorial Arboretum To Re-Open To Visitors

NMA

The National Memorial Arboretum will is to partially re-open next week.

From 8 June, pre-booked visitors will be able to go around outdoor elements of the 150-acre site.

The Arboretum closed its doors in March, but will now allow visitors to attend who have pre-booked specific dates, encouraging visitors to do so with an awareness of social distancing measures already in place.

Onsite signage, one-way pathways and queuing systems for facilities will also be implemented, while visitors are encouraged to wash their hands.

Staff will carry enhanced cleaning regime in particular areas, while talks, tours and activities, including the land train, will not be operating.

The Daily Act of Remembrance however, will still take place and visitors will still be able to see the Armed Forces Memorial, but capacity will be limited.

“The introduction of a system requiring visitors to pre-book a visit is as unprecedented as our recent closure; however, it is an essential tool that will allow us to safely manage the number of people on site and we will not be admitting people without a valid booking," said Philippa Rawlinson, Managing Director of the National Memorial Arboretum.

"I hope people will respect and comply with the new procedures we have put in place to protect our visitors and staff while enjoying their visit."
