Pictures show ambulances lined up at Wellington Barracks as military covered striking workers
Ambulances were pictured lined up outside Wellington Barracks in London when more than 750 Armed Forces personnel stepped in to drive them as paramedics and other health care workers staged industrial action across the country.
These images show military personnel ready to step in and cover ambulance driving duties as a part of their commitment to provide Military Aid to Civil Authorities (Maca) on Wednesday.
Maca is the help and support provided by the Armed Forces to authorities in the UK, such as the police, NHS, or local authorities.
The images also show London Ambulance Service crew going over procedures with Army and Royal Marines personnel ahead of the strike cover.
Although strikes were set to last for 24 hours, NHS bosses warned the public that it may take longer for services to return to normal.
A further healthcare worker strike is due to take place on 28 December 2022.
Tomorrow, Friday, around a quarter of a million passengers arriving at UK airports are being warned to expect delays due to the start of Border Force strikes, with military personnel and volunteers from the Civil Service trained to step in.
Hundreds of military personnel are expected to provide support at airports in England and Scotland.
