Woman to woman: RAF Wittering welcomes its new station commander

RAF Wittering has appointed a new station commander, with Wing Commander Joan Ochuodho taking over as station commander from Wing Commander Nikki Duncan.
Wing Cdr Ochuodho is the fourth female to lead the station.
She joined the RAF in 2003 and is now in charge of 1,400 military personnel, civilians and contractors at the base near Peterborough.
Reflecting on her new role, she described taking the position as "one of the greatest honours of my career".
"My time at RAF Wittering has been nothing short of amazing," she said.
"It has always been about the people – our talented, committed personnel and the incredible support we receive from the communities of Wittering, Stamford, Peterborough, Rutland, and Leicester.
"Leading this station has been one of the greatest honours of my career, and I am deeply grateful for the warmth, professionalism and spirit shown by everyone here.
"RAF Wittering will always hold a special place in my heart," she added.

Before taking on the new role, Wing Cdr Ochuodho was an experienced People Operations Officer.
She has deployed on operations to Iraq, the Falkland Islands and Nigeria.
Wing Cdr Ochuodho took over the role from Wing Cdr Duncan, who was appointed in 2023.
"My sincere thanks go to Wg Cdr Duncan, not only for providing such a thorough handover, but also for her hard work and commitment throughout her tenure as Station Commander," Wing Cdr Ochuodho said.
Wg Cdr Ochuodho is also an advisor to the RAF Football Association's (RAF FA) Board of Trustees and is the RAF FA's representative to the National Football Association Council. She is married with two sons.
