"We Don't Want Them To Become Museum Pieces Covered In Dust"
75 years ago today, the skies above southeast England were the scene of the most intense aerial battle of the Second World War.
To mark what has become known as the "Hardest Day" of the Battle of Britain, 18 spitfires and 6 hurricanes set off from Biggin Hill airport, patrolling the skies from the Solent to Gravesend to the White Cliffs of Dover, just as happened back in 1940.
Will Curtis is Managing Director at Biggin Hill Airport and he spoke to Tim Cooper as they both took in the aerial display on show.
