Red Arrows salute 100 Squadron on RAF disbandment

The Red Arrows have said goodbye to 100 Squadron at RAF Leeming, marking the disbandment of the historic unit.

Formed as a night bomber unit in 1917, 100 Squadron was home to the celebrated Phantom of the Ruhr Lancaster bomber, while its Hawk T1 jets have become recognisable as they fly above Yorkshire over recent decades.

Lightning and Typhoon pilots trained with 100 Squadron before frontline roles – but a wider audience of former members, family and friends watched as the skull and crossbones squadron standard was paraded for the final time.
