Revealed: What Sailors Are Eating On Board HMS Severn
The Royal Navy has revealed what food choices are on offer for the crew on board HMS Severn.
The offshore patrol vessel has been recommissioned into the fleet, and now boasts a unique paint job inspired by the Second World War era.
The ship tweeted that sailors could get breakfast, lunch and dinner options for £3.61 per day.
The sailors on board are treated to everything from fish and chips to a KFC-style chicken dinner.
In this week's menu, they can expect cooked breakfasts, like a traditional full English or American-style pancakes.
For lunch, there is anything from pulled pork rolls to creamy chicken pasta and the evening options include a more classic style roast through to helpings of hoi sin beef.
Although her exterior may look similar to that of the dazzle ships, Severn boasts a 'Western Approaches' paint scheme – a nod to history and a mark of respect to the sailors who fought and died in the Battle of the Atlantic.
As a development of earlier Royal Navy camouflages, the scheme was first used on World War Two destroyer HMS Broke.
HMS Severn was decommissioned nearly four years ago and is the first ship to be reactivated in this way since the Falklands War.
