Army boxer Niamh Brookes suffers early exit from Commonwealth Games

British Army boxer Lance Corporal Niamh Brookes is out of the Commonwealth Games following a disappointing loss to Canadian Amber-Jane Wall in the quarter-finals.
LCpl Brookes, who represents Wales, lost to Amber-Jane Wall by a unanimous decision despite a closely fought contest, with the judges leaning in favour of the Canadian.
She was hoping to book her place in Friday's semi-final, where she would've guaranteed herself at least a bronze medal.
A rising star in British Army and Welsh boxing, LCpl Brookes told BFBS Forces News in the lead-up to the event that she was aiming to win gold in the women's 51kg.
