Army sprinter Marvric Pamphile fails to qualify for men's 400m semi-final at Commonwealth Games

British Army sprinter Lance Corporal Marvric Pamphile has missed out on a place in the men's 400m semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games after placing 19th overall in the heats.

LCpl Pamphile, who represents Saint Lucia, sprinted his way to a time of 47.12 seconds to finish fourth in his heat.

But his overall time wasn't enough to lift him into the top 16 – therefore he will not progress further to the semi-finals.

With the 400m being LCpl Pamphile's only event, this result means his Commonwealth Games campaign has come to an end, repeating the result of his 2018 Commonwealth Games result where he also failed to make it out of the heats.

Jamaica's Zandrion Barnes topped the standings with a time of 45.13, pulling a half-second gap to Australia's Reece Holder, who placed second.
