RMP Showcases Close Protection Unit Skills
The British Army’s Royal Military Police Close Protection Unit have been showing off their skills at a NATO conference.

The role of RMP CPU officers is similar to that of a bodyguard. They are responsible for the close security and protection of senior military figures, civil servants and diplomats both within the UK and overseas.

Corporal Jimmy Alldread said they need to fit with the environment so they occasionally swap their British Army uniform for regular clothes and carry less obvious weapons.
"They'll be in civilian attire so we have to complement the boss in whatever he's wearing"

RMP Close Protection Officer WO2 Krissy Wright has been on several tours, including Iraq and Afghanistan. She has risen through the ranks and admits the role is seen as male-dominated.
"There are a lot of females who do this job. We do exactly the same as the males"

The two-day forum at the RMP's Hampshire training base is designed to enhance the capabilities of NATO Military Police and increase cooperation between the UK and its allies.
