Salisbury Plain: Firefighters barred from tackling fire due to bomb risk

"Several fires" are being tackled by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) on Salisbury Plain Training Area.
Firefighters have not been allowed to enter the affected area due to the risk of unexploded ordnance.
"We are monitoring the fire and maintaining close communications with Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service, who stand ready to assist should the fire spread beyond the impact area," the MOD said.
"[The MOD] can confirm there is no risk to the public at this time," the statement read.
All live firing at the site has also ceased and will not resume until all the fires are extinguished.
According to the statement, the fires are contained within the impact area.
The impact area is the part of the training area in which ordnance is fired and is not accessible to the general public.
